Healthy and tangy Amla chutney recipe

Amla chutney is a complement to chatpata which has a wonderful flavor that mixes tang, spice, and more. Gooseberries are combined with ingredients like green chilies, ginger, and coriander in this simple chutney, which perfectly balances the amla’s sharpness. Amla, which is high in vitamin C, is frequently accessible in the winter, so when amla is in season, this recipe is a must-try.

Because amla has a sour and bitter flavor, many people choose not to eat it raw. However, this Amla Chutney is a delectable dish that combines digestive-friendly spices with amla. Due to its mildly sweet and tangy flavor, even children may eat it, and I have no doubt that they will enjoy it

It is a quick recipe, that gets ready in just 15 minutes.

ingredients for Amla chutney recipe

  • 200 gm Amla
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds 
  • 6 Green Chillies / Hari Mirch
  • 1 inch Ginger / Adrak
  • 2 tbsp Cooking Oil
  • 1.5 tsp sugar

instruction for Amla chutney

  1. Pressure cook the amla with a little water for three whistles to start preparing the Sweet & Spicy Amla Chutney. Open the cooker after the pressure has been released and remove the amla seeds.
  2. Grind the cooked amla and ginger in a mixer along with a little water and make into a smooth paste.
  3.  The cumin, mustard, and hing seeds should crackle when added to hot oil in a kadhai.
  4. Add red chilli powder and give it a stir, add ground amla paste and mix well.
  5. Salt and jaggery are then added, and the mixture is cooked for a few minutes until it comes together.
  6. Store the prepared chutney in a jar and keep refrigerated .
  7. Serve with snacks and appetizers or along with Indian meals.


You can add some fresh mint in this chutney too.

Adjust the chilli according to your taste.
