Chocolate Modak Recipe (with/without mould):A Irresistible Twist to Traditional Festive Treats

Ingredients for Chocolate Modak

  • 1/3 cup condensed milk (optional)
  •  teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped pistachios
  • 1 1/2 cup graham cracker crust
  • 2 tablespoons sugar or as required 

Instructions for Chocolate modak

Prepare a dough for the modak

  1. Firstly collect and measure all the ingredients needed to make this sweet and set aside.
  2. Take milk, condensed milk, and chocolate chips in a pan on medium-low heat.
  3. After a while, the chocolate will start melting and the mixture will turn out to be smooth and shiny.
  4. Add graham cracker crust to the mixture and stir.
  5. then add 2 tablespoons of sugar to it. You can add less or more sugar according to taste.
  6. After being cooked halfway through, add chopped pistachios and mix well.
  7. Sprinkle ⅛ teaspoon cardamom powder.
  8. The result will be a sticky dough.
  9. When you see that the mixture has come together as a lump or ball of cohesive mass then immediately transfer it to another bowl or plate or tray.

Make Chocolate Modak (With Mould)

  1. Portion the mixture and roll into smooth round balls between your palms.
  2. Grease the modak molds with a little refined oil
  3. Place a small ball into the modak mould. Just press your index finger towards the center of the mould so they get the shape of the mould.
  4.  Gently unmould and repeat the same method with the rest of the chocolate mixture.
  5. chocolate modaks that are ready to be served to Lord Ganesha.

Chocolate Modak (Without Mould)

  1. Take a ball size dough and place it in your palm.
  2. Shape it in such a way that it is flat from the bottom and pointed from the top.
  3. With the help of a spoon draw lines on Modak.
  4. All the Modaks are ready. Offer them to Lord Ganesh or serve them to your family.

NOTES

  • The surface of the modak looks uneven because of the chopped nuts in it. Add ground nuts, if you prefer the smooth surface.
  • Also, take a portion, make a smooth, tight ball and then stuff into mould. It also helps in getting a smooth surface.
  • Preferably use smaller molds for that bite-sized modak.
  • Mold the modak while the mixture is still warm.
  • This recipe can be easily halved or doubled. Adjust sugar to taste.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Arrange Chocolate Modak on a serving tray and garnish with more rose petals and nuts. Offer them to Lord Ganesh first and then enjoy these with friends and family as prasad (Lord Ganesha’s blessings) or dessert!

STORAGE SUGGESTIONS

This modak can be stored in an air-tight container at room temperature for 3-4 days, up to two weeks in a refrigerator, or for 2 months in the freezer. Thaw and microwave slightly before serving.
