Veg masala toast is a delicious snack that is produced by tempering vegetables, putting them over bread, and open-toasting the whole thing. This recipe for masala toast was created in the Iyengar Bakery, where it is very well-liked. Masala toast is a tasty option for both breakfast and a snack.

Open-faced sandwiches like bread masala toast can be prepared for breakfast or a small meal on hectic mornings. I posted this recipe because I wanted to share a sandwich recipe without a sandwich machine. Veg masala toast is a really simple recipe that can be prepared on a tawa. a great school-day lunch that is also quite healthful because it includes vegetables.

Ingredients for Veg masala toast recipe

  • 5-6 Bread slices (wheat or brown bread)
  • 1-2 tablespoon butter or ghee
  • 1 cup onion chopped finely
  • 1 cup tomatoes chopped finely
  • ½ cup carrot grated finely
  • ½ cup capsicum chopped finely
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder/haldi
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp finely chopped green chili
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • salt to taste

Instructions for Veg masala toast recipe

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon butter or ghee in a pan/kadai over medium flame.
  2. Add finely chopped onion and green chilli.
  3. saute the onions for 2-3 or until golden.
  4. Then add tomato, capsicum and carrot saute until it shrinks and raw smell leaves.
  5. Stir it once and add the turmeric powder, black pepper powder, garam masala powder, chaat masala, red chilli powder and the cumin powder.
  6. Add salt and mix well. Saute in a low flame for 5 minutes. Switch it off .
  7. Vegetable mixture is ready, set aside.
  8. Grease a tawa and heat it over a medium flame. Spread butter or ghee on both the sides of the bread piece and place on the tawa.
  9. Spread the vegetable mixture generously.
  10. Cook on a medium flame for a few seconds and then flip to the other side.
  11. Cut diagonally and serve Masala Toast hot !

Serving Suggestions

You can either serve this as an open sandwich or serve as a closed sandwich by keeping another toasted bread on it.

Serve it hot with green chutney and tomato ketch up as the afternoon snack or light evening dinner.

Sprinkle sev over Masala Toast Sandwich before serving for variation.

Tips & Variations

  1. You can add cooked grean peas too.
  2. You can skip or reduce chaat masala and red chili powder if you are making it for kids.
  3. Make sure to chop veggies finely so that it gets sauted quickly also easy tp spread on the bread slices.
  4. Any veggies of your choice can be added.
  5. As soon as you spread the mixture serve it, else it wil become soggy.
  6. You can also add some shredded cheese on top.
