Ingredients for Veg masala toast recipe

  • 5-6 Bread slices (wheat or brown bread)
  • 1-2 tablespoons butter or ghee
  • 1 cup onion chopped finely
  • 1 cup tomatoes chopped finely
  • ½ cup carrot grated finely
  • ½ cup capsicum chopped finely
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder/haldi
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1 tsp finely chopped green chili
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • salt to taste

Instructions for Veg masala toast recipe

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon butter or ghee in a pan/kadai over medium flame.
  2. Add finely chopped onion and green chili.
  3. saute the onions for 2-3 or until golden.
  4. Then add tomato, capsicum, and carrot and saute until it shrinks and raw smell leaves.
  5. Stir it once and add the turmeric powder, black pepper powder, garam masala powder, chaat masala, red chili powder, and cumin powder.
  6. Add salt and mix well. Saute on a low flame for 5 minutes. Switch it off.
  7. The vegetable mixture is ready and set aside.
  8. Grease a tawa and heat it over a medium flame. Spread butter or ghee on both sides of the bread piece and place it on the tawa.
  9. Spread the vegetable mixture generously.
  10. Cook on a medium flame for a few seconds and then flip to the other side.
  11. Cut diagonally and serve Masala Toast hot!

You can either serve this as an open sandwich or serve as a closed sandwich by keeping another toasted bread on it.

Serve it hot with green chutney and tomato ketchup as the afternoon snack or light evening dinner.
