Step 1: Preparing the Dough

1. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center. 2. Pour the vegetable oil into the well and gradually add the warm water. 3. Mix the ingredients together until a soft dough forms. 4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. 5. Shape the dough into a ball, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 30 minute

Step 2: Preparing the Filling

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). 2. In a mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced apples, granulated sugar, breadcrumbs, raisins, chopped walnuts, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. 3. Toss the ingredients together until the apple slices are evenly coated with the sugar and spices.

Step 3: Assembling the Strudel

1. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the rested dough into a rectangle, approximately 16x12 inches in size. 2. Brush the melted butter over the entire surface of the dough. 3. Sprinkle the prepared filling mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 2-inch border along the edges.

4. Starting from one of the longer edges, carefully roll the dough, enclosing the filling. Seal the edges by pinching them together. 5. Place the rolled strudel onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down.

Step 4: Baking the Strudel

1. Brush the top of the strudel with the remaining melted butter. 2. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes, or until the strudel is golden brown and crispy. 3. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

Step 5: Serving

1. Dust the apple strudel with powdered sugar. 2. Slice the strudel into portions and serve warm. 3. For an extra touch, garnish each slice with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream (optional).
