Ingredients:

– 3 to 4 pounds (1.4 to 1.8 kg) boneless  pork shoulder – 2 tablespoons brown sugar – 2 teaspoons paprika – 2 teaspoons mustard powder – 1 teaspoon garlic powder – 1 teaspoon onion powder – 1 teaspoon salt – 1/2 teaspoon black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional,  for added heat) – 1 cup barbecue sauce – 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar – 1/4 cup chicken broth or water

Step 1: Prepare the Pork

1. Trim any excess fat from the  pork shoulder, leaving a thin layer  for added flavor and tenderness. 2. In a small bowl, mix together the  brown sugar, paprika, mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). 3. Rub the spice mixture evenly over  the pork shoulder, ensuring it is well  coated.

Step 2: Slow Cook the Pork

1. Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. 2. In a separate bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, and chicken broth or water. Mix well. 3. Pour the sauce mixture over the pork shoulder, covering it entirely. 4. Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on low heat for 8 to 10 hours, or on high heat for 4 to 6 hours. The pork should be tender and easily shred with a fork when done.
