  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup besan
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 to 2 green chilies, finely chopped

  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
  • ½ tsp aamchur powder 
  • Water (for kneading)

Instructions for Missi Roti

  1. Take the whole wheat flour, besan (gram flour), and ajwain (carom seeds) in a mixing bowl or a pan.
  2. Add finely chopped onion, chopped green chili, asafoetida (hing), aamchur powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, 2 teaspoons oil, and salt.
  3. Mix all ingredients with your hand.
  4. Then add ½ cup water and Begin to mix and knead the dough.
  5. Add more water as required and knead to a smooth soft dough.
  6. Cover it with muslin cloth and keep aside at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  7. now pinch a medium-sized ball of dough, Roll to a circle of about 5 to 6 inches. Sprinkle some more flour if required while rolling. Roll to medium to medium-thick roti.
  8. further, roll it in a slightly thick circle like chapati or paratha.
  9. Heat a griddle or skillet (tawa) over medium flame.
  10. Place the roti on a hot tawa or skillet.

  15. Repeat the flip and cook process (no need to spread ghee this time) for 1-2 times until golden brown spots appear evenly on both sides.
  16. Transfer it to a plate. Prepare the remaining rotis and cook them in the same manner
